OK  we have done 3 bike launches that largely failed,Not totally giving up on that just need a dirt bike instead of pig  road bike I think. We tried a Friday afternoon school-training session that I was overwhelmed by the number of riders and such a varied skill group that I couldnt take money for what would be too little individual help. We  did the uphill race with 3 varied lines but only had 4 riders and never asked what out times ended up. Then there are the traditional Jim at Baraboo big hitters with the Freestyle/Wheelie / Log ride contests and mini -putt.  Also  the Gate trial format can be quite well liked.  Some of the problem of course is time and energy to do much after a full day of riding.  Which leads to trying to decide if enough people would show for  a Friday afternoon fun and games type day,or if the traditional Saturday event should be earlier and shorter or skipped.  Also if it isn't a standard event then normal AMA insurance may not apply. In addition to some or none of all of the above aberrations are a few more I dreamed up while in tractor 10 hours a day. Of course a no-brainer would be world class natural terrain trials bike endure x with A and B/C lines separate races -or not??  We could have  a mondo step up/high jump  with and with out style points  Again and A and B/C lines. Possibly  a down hill distance air with live and dead motor.  Any more thoughts of ex games type distractions are welcome. The other thing on my wish list would be to share the weekend with BRF as far as  a joint UMTA event. We used to move 20 miles from Platteville to Dickeyville for  a Sat/Sun extravaganza. Well BRF to Mauston is 45 to 1 hr but it would be ,I think reasonable and would possibly be better than riding most sections the same for 2 days in a row. I had thought the invitational should rotate between BRF  Baraboo and Mauston, but of course  its not really my or Wotas  choice - it has to work for UMTA  and we don't want to P O them and lose the Bonus we have so far. I also know there is a strong desire NOT to mess with an existing schedule- so this will more likely be something to hash over for 2015,BUT   1 scenario would be   to keep the dates we have  - Make the Saturday of BRF  a Sat at Smagical for the late September joint event. Then move to rock crk for the Sunday portion of Umta invitational   then -turn the first September  Smagical into  a Sunday points ride and a Sat play day and make BRF  s June round a 2 day -   so no one really loses any event days total.  Fire aWAY

Noel ,
I like your idea of having a fun day maybe on a sat afternoon before a sun event . Fun and games followed by evening supper . You could have different games that all skill levels could participate or a, b c, levels of games , ie , water balloon ride , mustard coated hot dog on a string eat and ride and others , or maybe some kind of traveling trophy also . The mc club that puts on the trail ride at Thielman used to have a similar thing back in the 80`s with all kinds of mc games , I cant remember them all but could ask one of the old timers what the games all where .
P.S. On a different note,  thank you to the Doll family and the First responders for a wonderful event , I had a blast ! The only down fall was the last loop incident I had which , after an E.R. visit left me with a badly sprained right ankle and a broken left ankle , stuff happens ! Still had fun, hope to be back soon .
                                                                                                                                                       Matt

With the monster bluffs you've got, I hope you keep the bike launch. How about a "butt buster" section for Saturday evening, which is a very-very long section, but not necessarily difficult. You could put a time limit on it to help get dabs.
I believe your right about the AMA insurance not covering the special events. Remember the timed tiebreaker at Cash Creek years ago...Yikes! Shocked
Wildly popular, but didn't realize the danger potential until seeing the speed that trials bikes can be capable of.

Most likely just as many people who might want  a different set of sections an equal or greater number would prefer not to load/unload more than one time.

thumbs up to the monty bike launch! it would be soo cool. But where are the old bulls, ty250's, swm's or combat wombats?
I would resurrect the freestyle, jesse or brad might show and give your kids a rough time. I've also seen a whole new generation of talent at your last event.

(by the way northern, Look very hard for the brake pads... their there. Hold on to the seals, maybe I can return em)
