Hi  I have a request from Pat himself to see what potential there is to hold a fund raiser at Smagical Rock the day b4 season opener. It may be too late to get insurance that day or maybe the policy covers the weekend anyway since people come early- I have to contact Shari Huber (sp?)on that one.  I know last year it kind of fizzled ,not sure why because we had a dozen or more riders out enjoying the walls  ,maybe I just felt odd to take the money,BUT in the name of supporting the USA TDN riders ,I would have no problem .SO it would be good to know if interest is high ,low or whatever. Please reply to thread if you think it is worth setting up. I would guess cost of $40 for 3-4 hrs  would be reasonable ,Maybe have a raffle tied in with it so participants get a ticket or two at sign up. For sure we will have the t shirts to sell ,and maybe some Wilbur wear or something donated from RYP  ?

Format would likely be 3 diff instructors with groups ,NOV/INT  : ADV: EX   depending on interest.  One catch may be the rider who crashes hardest turns his bike over for the evening launch, I am sure I could get a trials bike to get some air off the bluff, we will be needng to build a ramp from leftover cabin materials.

Would need to know times.  And I really don't think anyone would want their bike to go over the bluff, no matter how many times they crashed.  Or were you just kidding.

Of course I joke  .the school would be sat afternoon say 2 or 3 pm to 6 pm.may devise a family Plan where rate drops 10 dollars a head for each additional family members   OR we could impose a camping fee or land use fee which I never like to pay personally.Or throw a pizza spaghetti party at night , maybe a minders school,a bike and rider event prep course,or  a Smage Bros Riding show on the trailer for $10 a head to watch??  If we did  a gate trial it would be the team format with mixed abilities probably have 4 sections ridden 3 times . This is most likely the only "local" event the boys will be attending. FYI

So, no interest in being helped out by 5 time pro champ and a rider who cleaned 3 World Rounds ? Maybe we should set up a gate trials then and the 3 would be instructors for school can be extra helpful to the participants?  THIS IS A FUND RAISER for USA  TDN teams  ,something will happen  ,need FEED back . About 5 weeks until event. I doubled the price to see if anyone would post a reply ,not a serious cost.Price and format are up for discussion but that means typing your thoughts as such.

The school IF it were to happen would focus on NO STOP techniques to prep everyone for the exciting change to our sport!  Actually the focus will more likely be hillclimbs, best methods for loose dirt/sand, and riding steps/walls. Possibly devote some time to the details of riding with a spotter to allow pushing the comfort zone on obstacles normally too scary to consider.

James I am joking again!  The all knowing FIM trials div. has decided to change the rules at the WTC outdoor events where  a stop is now  a 5  .They even have a video on the website that "clears" it up.  To me it looks like a pause of say 1/2 to 1 second is sometimes allowed escp.if only on 1 wheel,  they have also thrown out the section time limit. The goals is to make trials more flowing and interesting to watch and maybe more likely for newbies to feel they can ride so they buy bikes.    I have gathered there is a potential trials show in Woodstock ,Il  for Smage Bros April 13th ,I know Pat is doing a lone show this Sat in Woodstock and will have more of an idea if the April one will happen.I will post that info when it is known. He has returned from being in AZ  CA  etc. the lsat 2 months, the boys also have a 20 inch Oset, cool little bike.

Jim,

Here is a training video on Non-Stop Trials.  It was produced for the European/World riders/observers by F.I.M.  Excellent production quality video. From what I can tell from the video, it looks just like the AHRMA vintage trials rules, and just like the trials rules we used back in the 1970's.

So, does anyone know - are we planning to use the non-stop rules in Wisconsion or Illinois this season?

The  US  NATC series has NOT adopted this change ,they are wise enough to know that having  a time limit in a section basically means riders don't hang out in one place for real long ,and  they probably know most people that participate would not want the change.   WOTA I think is same as it has been. I assume.  It may be put to a vote ,if  and when NATC goes for the change or not, which may be next year or they may wait for the FIM to decide to go back.

I can report Pat has lined up a repeat of the Woodstock H-D  trials show ,to be April 13 th with both boys. The one last weekend went OK just a lot of the wimpy HOG riders stayed inside to hear live music since it was still wintery.  He  had asked several times about whether there had been interest in the school b4 booking  ,so its a snooze u loose deal I guess.  Now the ? is does anyone plan to come on Saturday the 13 th and would there be a reason to have a short Gate Trial. I will be glad to set up some sections but not without some committed riders.  I was there yesterday and cleared 2 more insane straight up hill climbs so there are now at least 8 spots that can take a rider to the top and some of those have 2 or more variations on approaches. For riders not four stroking I recommend some 110 octane fuel.

I'm confused.  The trials demo is the 13th back in Woodstock, IL?  And the gate trial is the same day at Mauston, the day before the event?

Yes the boys booked another show at Woodstock H-D  and then plan to  come up to  Mauston. I will be at Mauston wed or thurs through sun or mon  but on Sat Aft hope to   do some thing as a TDN- fund raiser.  If  people wake from winter hibernation and decide to ride we can do a gate trial or some crazy hillclimb clinic.
