feedback on colored gates vs hand scribbled confusing class designations

  At  the Smage trial we used large color coded class split gates  . any one feel this is a good way to go?  Lets see if the next trialsmasters can use them if people like .  Through Parts Unlimited  the moose arrows are about 5 cents a pc. and can even by cut in 1/2  and work OK.   I also HATE the standard cheap red and blue tape but for a big event like Wauzeka or Dickeyville it would be expensive to go with the 3 inch yellow  close to $10  a roll  unless we   save and reuse it   ,probably  too much cost.  Noel

I am so use to the colored arrow concept ,that I diidnt even give it a second thought at your event !!!! We have been using the arrows at the NITRO events for two years now I think......I like that system...we also reuse  them as much as possible

I am also a fan of the colored gates.  I think they are much easier to spot.

I thought the colored arrows were fantastic.  Moose has 5 color combinations to choose from, which works for us.  And the yellow "course marking" tape is only $21 (retail) for a 1000' roll.  Shoot, that's just over 2 cents per foot.  We can't afford that?  If the club can't afford it, then I'll by the arrows and tape for the Dickeyville trail.

The colored arrows should make section set up a bit easier, since you wouldn't have to keep fumbling for a magic marker to write out the arrow and class. They also are more durable than pie plates, and reusable. 

Would we still need pie plates and magic marker for the entry and exit gates? I can't remember what was used at the Elkhorn event.

Colored arrows are the easiest way to set up and I think the best idea so far. Pie plates at the entrance are still not a big deal since we would only need 8-10 of them at any event, and could be pre made if needed.

I agree this is a good change.

Which color is being used for which line? I see the info in the 2007 NITRO rule book
which has  E-Black, D-Green, C-Blue, B-Red, A-Red with white splits.

But I only saw 4 colors on the moose website (black, green, blue, red)
and then the black & orange course arrows.

I think I remember what was done at Elkhorn. I believe the 4 colors were used and then the 5th line (Novice)
simply had to stay between the ribboned boundaries, and stayed out of the gates for the other classes.
Northern can verify this later, but I believe he is on a road trip now.
I'm still very interested on what NITRO has been using for colors lately.

   NITRO uses...E-Black....D-green....C-Blue...B-orange back ground- Black arrow...A-red....We use the black arrows most of the time to mark the loop.......I do suggest useing a specific colored arrow for novice...other wise the novice have to read ALL OF THE LINES...
