1  Classifieds / Wanted to Buy / 2005 Sherco 3.2 parts on: November 16, 2019, 11:54:32 AM
Hey all!
Its been a long time since I've been to an event or even visited this site.  I saw a few great trials folks the other day at the funeral of a friend and got bit by the trials bug.  When I quit riding, I had just damaged my 3.2.  I somehow managed to get off a tooth on the timing chain when I checked valve lash.  This caused contact between the piston and exhaust valves.  One valve broke and dinged up the head and piston.  I could PROBABLY get away with cleaning up the valve seats and installing new exhaust valves, but I'm leaning towards a new piston and head.

Anybody happen to have (or know where to find) a used cylinder head?  Any suggestions on a good source for a piston?  I haven't talked to RYP yet.  I used to use Ryan for all my Sherco parts, but I'm scared to ask the price of these parts.

I have a running 2 stroke - so at least I can start re-learning how to ride without sitting down!!  But I'd prefer to get the 4 stroke going before next season starts.

A complete parts bike is also a possibility.

Sounds like you fellas are on the right track.  Almost surely just a problem with clutch discs stuck together.  If it hasn't broken loose after warming up, I usually hold the clutch in and ease into the throttle and rear brake at the same time until the clutch breaks free.  Be aware: When it does break loose, the bike stops REALLY fast.

Are you sure that the problem isn't that there is just some air stuck in the system?

I changed front and rear brake fluid and clutch fluid early this spring and had good results with pressure filling the systems through the bleed screws.  You should be able to get a large syringe and a piece of clear tubing from about any farm supply store.  Fill the syringe with brake fluid and push the fluid in the bleed screw until the reservoir is at the proper level and tighten the bleed screw.  This worked pretty well for the clutch and front brake.  The rear required a bit more effort - disassembly and careful positioning of components.

If the clutch (slave) cylinder was leaking, your reservoir level should be dropping.

Hope this helps.

Great event.  I had a blast.

Thanks to Kevin, Noel, Mike, and Mason for setting up sections.  Thanks to Ken for bringing out the porta potty.  Thanks for Jim V. for getting things organized - I'm sure there was plenty of work behind the scenes that none of us know about.  And thanks to Doreen for running sign up.

There may be others that pitched in as well that I don't know about - thank you too.

5  General Category / Event Discussion / Re: Did I see double points for BRF on: April 12, 2011, 10:10:49 PM
I also thought the consensus at the year end party was that there would be no double points events.  How is this going to work with the decision to use 11 of the 13 events.  If a member can’t make the BRF event, he throws out those 2 days... which with double points goes from making no difference in his points standing to making it equivalent to missing 2 events.  I'm not running for points, but I am concerned that the club is fair to those who are running for points.  This needs to be clearly defined.  Is the final BRF event going to count for 4 events???  If so, why this difference from what was discussed by the CLUB at the year end??

I'd like to see it moved to the 10th.  I would be available to help with sign up.  I don't really know what I'm doing, but can help out if someone can tell me what to do.

I'm planning to ride the Nitro event on the 17th and won't be able to make it to Mauston on the 17th.

Hey Ralph!

The tubliss would definitely not have helped in your case.  I was under the impression that the majority of the flats were in the front tires due to pinched tubes.

I may order one and give it a try next time I have my front tire off the rim.  I don't think I'd mess with one in the rear since they are already tube less.

8  General Category / Points / 2nd Place Points on: November 12, 2010, 12:58:27 PM
Anyone know why WOTA awards 16 points for a seconds place finish instead of 17?  From looking at other clubs it seems that 17 is the "standard".

Our points difference from 1st to 2nd is pretty large with only a 1 point difference from 2nd to 3rd.  Just seems strange to me.

Is this a D16 rule or a club rule?

Just curious.  Huh

Just curious if anyone has replaced the front tube with the Tubliss system.  Check out http://www.nuetech.com/.

With the number of flat fronts experienced at the Platteville event this year, it seems this may be worth the $100.

Added bonus of being lighter than a tube.

Any thoughts?

Sorry to hear that, Andy.  You'll be missed.
I hope you will still try to make it to some of the events.

Not sure if it makes much difference or not, but there is a doe only gun hunt in the Elkhorn area from the 14th to the 17th.  I assume there will be no lead flying over our heads...

Otherwise I have no preference.

Sorry about the delayed feedback, but I had a blast on the intermediate lines.

Bought the bike this winter and have been very happy with it.  I'm only selling becaused I found a screaming deal on a Sherco 4T and decided to upgrade.  The bike runs and rides great.  There are some rear spokes missing and the hand grips need to be replaced.  I have the spokes on order and also plan to replace the grips.  Rear fender has been plastic welded back together so it is one piece, but kind of ugly.

It is a great way for someone to get into the sport cheap.  Asking $1500, but willing to entertain offers.

I'll get some photos posted ASAP.

Give me a call or email if interested.

Sorry Noel, but it doesn't look like I'll be able to help at all.  Spent all day yesterday at Mt. Road and chances are pretty slim that I'll make it back up to the area before the events.  I'll make sure to help as much as possible with tear down.

On the plus side... we got a lot done at the Mt. Road site yesterday.  Novice, Intermediate, and Advanced lines are set up for the 8 sections.  The creek crossing that was washed out has been repaired and a bunch of brush from fallen trees was cleaned up on the loop.  Jim is going to do a youth line that is separate from novice and is going to set up the expert and champ lines with Ralph on Wednesday.

I'm planning to head up on Saturday (4th) or Monday (6th) to help Jim out.  If we finish up there I'd be happy to help out at Mauston as well.  I probably won't be very useful in setting up sections, but I can bring and run a string trimmer and chainsaw.
