A New Year for WOTA, letter from your Pres.
A New Year for WOTA,
After reviewing the meeting minutes and looking for answers to the points questions, I find that we need to make some changes in WOTA and make them know with District 16 and filed. We are not listed in the district 16 web page for our rules and points listings. I think we need to make a change here and list our rules with them just like every other form of racing or competition.
After a request to have us use 17 points for second place instead of 16, I checked (all the districts) and none of them use 17 points for second place. The NATC and AMA do not use it either. The only ones I found using it is UMTA (not D23) and FIM, Federation International Motorcycles . My personal view is that we stick with what the AMA has listed in the rules for trials. It is the same as the NATC and both points systems. We are sanctioned by the AMA, and I feel that if we have a dispute on the points, we are using what the AMA has provided for us. I have spoken with the district 16, D17 and the AMA about the points. Yes this is what NITRO uses. We must use this from now on and for sure all this year. No changes half way through!
From now on we will be having a loop rider for each event. This person will receive 5 points, with a maximum of 20 points per person per year that rides loops! This person will be charged with riding the entire loop before the start, surveying all the sections to see that they are easy to locate, look for good markings that indicate the loop and direction of travel and where each section is, each section is clearly marked (start and end). This does not mean ride the sections! This is to save confusion for locating sections and how to get to them! We can still use Pie plates to mark the start and end of each section. Mark them clearly please!
Marking sections: From now on we would like to go with a perimeter ribbon and arrows in side to direct you to your line of travel and only a yellow ribbon to split the classes if needed. No crossing into a different line or class’s gate! I would like to use yellow arrows for youth lines (primarily for 80cc and down riders, the smaller bikes). I will be working on getting those arrows for the next event. I would like to eliminate red and blue ribbons all together!
Elections are coming up this year! We need a new secretary and a new treasurer. Please think about stepping up and helping out! It takes a lot of work to keep things running smoothly! As for this year it would be nice to have someone to step up and help out with sign up at the different events! Thank you to those that have already volunteered.
We will be offering a family discount of $5 per person per house hold. The first person will pay full price and the rest of the same house hold get 5 dollars off each person.
We have 13 events this year and we will be using the best 11 out of 13 for scoring. When we award points, we will be taking out the non-members and moving up the D16 members for rank accordingly.
As for the last event of the year, Black River Falls will be a double points paying event. I feel that event being that late will make the grand finale and help with turn out!
Thanks,
Jim Voigtlander, President
