After  a look at the UMTA site  looking to see if the # of events they ride was indeed 15 per year  I notice that they did a gate trial and followed  some  Tommi Ahvala or Texahoma format that  allowed  dabbbing   where basically  you start each section with 30 free points and loose 10 with each dab  . also gates  have 5,10 or 15 point values.  I am thinking this may be more fun  as  with our stadium terrain it is tricky to clean the whole thing.  Any thoughts  Homer?

We will probably use Tommi s   rules  one  to pay attentioin to  is that if you basicaLLY =PADDLE THROUGH you lose the 30 points but gain  all the gate points  he says  if  someone does that he will paint their bike Pink and  make them carry a purse.    We may throw 1 or 2 sections in that have to be ridden  clean to get points  maybe.

Hey, the "paddle through" method has worked for me greatly this year since I moved up to "Advanced" class (the 3s were much better than the optional 5s).  Should I just go ahead and paint my bike pink before I come? Grin.  Really, when playing for points, you adjust your strategy to follow the way the points are awarded, so If I get penalized for paddling, I'll adjust my style.  I've never done a Gate trial, so am looking forward to giving it a try.

The beauty of a gate trial is you get to choose your line!  If you want it easy, hit the low scoring gates.  I am a fan of making it a challenge, harder the better!

Noel, what time does all the fun start next Sunday.  I work Saturday night and will be leaving Iowa as soon as I get off (Shari will drive so I can sleep) and should get there around 11:30.

Probably  be doing gate trial from noon  until 3;30  so pizza and meeting can be close to 4 pm.  Phil  asked about  a quick trialscross race  and we do have a much improved rc car track to use as well.  I will leave some areas for practice riding  ,mostly behind my barn, but  some logs and things in woods too.
