Interesting post by Griff Wigley to a UMTA list,  especially for those into the pedal biking also..........

Looks like mountain bikers will be mixing with mototrials riders this summer when the NATC National Mototrials rounds come to Spirit Mountain:

April 29 Duluth News Tribune: Duluth area building a mountain bike mecca

Mountain bikers in the Duluth area will see a flurry of trail-building this summer as Duluth forges ahead in its goal to become a premier trail city. Spirit Mountain plans to add two “gravity” — downhill — trails to the two trails already on the ground at the ski hill. The cycling club COGGS (Cyclists of Gitchee Gumee Shores) plans to build nine miles of single-track trails in the Mission Creek area and add 3½ miles to the 5½ miles already in place in the Lester-Amity Park system. In addition, starting May 23, Spirit Mountain will begin operating its Spirit Express II lift for bikers and other users from Thursday through Sunday. The lift will take people and bikes from the new chalet at the base of the ski hill to the top.
