since I started as president the rules have been set by the people! I think it should be what everyone wants, for the most part! you would be surprised on how many emails I get and inputs I get from others! and as for the rules, we all have to stick to them! that is only fair to others that are! there was a little confusion at the first event on them but that is no reason to get ur undies in a bundle!!! The officers at the event were only going by the rules we all agreed to at the meeting last sept at BRF, yes there could have been some flex ability, but there could also have been some responsiblity!! the start times were clearly posted in this forum where it says,, start times! not sure how we missed that? we have had some slackers in the past, people that just show when they want and hope they dont have to pay and still get to ride! and some just show up when ever and want to jump in and expect all the rest to wait for them to get caught up, is that fair? well I think if everyone was ok with it we wouldnt have a rule about showing up on time would we... now in your words (Steve K)
Lastly, and I think most important, there is a powerful need to look at the cause of the problem and attempt to corrrect it.  If you don't eliminate the cause of a problem, changing the rules won't fix it.
personaly I think this may be a little harsh in this case, (I am in the process of trying to come to a reasonable solution to this and help resolve any future problems) but the I would realy like it to be brought to my attention at that time and we can stop and (talk ) about it and resolve it there and then. it would save eveyone so much typing! LOL!
we are all new Officers at this and are just trying to make things better for all of us that are here riding the events and the people working the events ( which are few)  so I think the changes we have made are for the good of all the people, and the members that showed up at the meeting agreed to it so if you all would have been there you all would be on the same page . that is part of the club ( the meeting ) trying to make things work better and more smoothly to get it all done and everyone home on time and still have fun!

I would just like to contribute something to the discussion. As a baby champ with the 2010 WOTA title, I really enjoyed the experience of riding with Rick, Pat Doll, Brad and Noel.
I did plan to sign up for the Champ section in Mauston despite being a little bit scared of pushing the limits. However I believe it is always a good thing to test your limits - thats how we progress.
There were 6 potential champ riders for Mauston (Pat, Phil, Brad, Ben, Noel and me) and I would have loved to have had the opportunity to ride and learn from them.
I believe if everyone plays the game of sharing their skills during such an event, then that is the way riders will make progress and improve their skills.
The only opportunity we have to ride with the pro guys is in this champ class but they do not sign up. I understand that it might be boring for them but it is a great platform to share, discuss, create a spirit of excellence and give example to others in the role of mentors and accessible riders. It is also the way we can attract younger people to join our sport and to enjoy the spirit.
My recommendation is to keep the champ class and to make it work for the future of the sport!
Best

I think for now we might as well keep  setting a champ line  ,just  a slight step up from expert rather than close to  NATC expert  ,I  kind of shot for the Expert Sportsman equivelent , knowing Brad haS WON THAT TITLE  AND bEN AND i  HAVE  HAD  success at it in the past.  We definately want it harder than the NATC support route , that has now become almost  a vintage twin shock type route.    On another note I am  wondering  what people might think of the Mauston event in late August if we can find a Day that Umta and Nitro have not used already?   I really would like to  not conflict , to have the best shot at a bigger turnout.

Yes but since Minnesota has 2 events a month  I would consider  a different weekend  to allow some of them to come  but that woulnt guarantee any of them showing either ,escp since it doesnt pay them points.  I believe Jim V will be also  thinking just leave it as scheduled so it will be NEXT year that some how we can miraculously avoid conflicting with  our neighbors. It does need to be hashed out right at the end of the season ,before something is officially posted   so, be it. Unless I can switch w/ Dickeyville / Dickeyville  ?  no bad idea too/,.//  One can hope that a few UMTA  riders dont really want to ride Theilman 7  (SEVEN)  times in  a 6 month period  and a few dont care about points may just come out to the bluff anyway.
