That's good news.
I plan on doing "The Race" which I have done many times before and maybe the Hixton OMA. I usually make it to a few of the regular MXA races. I have raced at Gusse's for over 20 years and enjoy "some" of his courses.
We're looking forward to the Hixton round also. Maybe Noel will even "saddle it up" for that event? The whole series looks to have interesting spots to race.

Is Phillip spreading that rumor for sympathy - or hyping it up for the next Smagical Adventure DVD?
Seriously, he thought it was broken. On Monday he said it was feeling a lot better, although I still told him to go to a doctor and get it x-rayed.
That OMA organization lays out a nasty course. Clipping a tree and going down isn't that hard to do in single track woods racing. I did it a few times. Can't wait for next month in Kentucky. Wonder if Phil feels the same?

I've changed my tune. I've come to grips with the fact Pat and the 125 don't mix anymore. While the experiment proved to the world Pat's no fluke at the world level, it's time to move on and take the next giant step.
Pat has the heart of a champion and now can get back to having fun on a bike size he feels best at competing on.
Go, Pat, Go!

The classes would be pro, expert, advanced, intermediate and novice. If someone feels we need to add a youth class, fine. Or A, B, C, D, E.
These three events, the cost of entry is increased 5 or 10 bucks. All this money goes directly to the tdn team fund.
Kip (new TdN team manager) says the NATC is on board with and behind the plan.
As we all know, we've got a vested interest in the tdn team. One of our members is on it.

I've been asked by Kip Webb to see if we could use one of our WOTA events, along with a Minnesota event and a Illinois event to do a three round Mid-west regional series.
As for work, all clubs put on events and this would only require extra paperwork. The draw is more out of area riders competing for the series win. We'd like to make the extra money raised go to the TDN team.
Do we have WOTA event the group would consider? Hixton is one possible choice. Baraboo the other. I would work the sponsorship/promotion angle with Shan at Trials Comp and the key manufacturers, and all other regional details if WOTA would be interested in joining a regional series format to crown a regional champion.

The AMA had 400 different champions to choose from. To say the our little 'Wisconsin Wonder' didn't earn this nomination would be disingenuous. Let me be the first to say, good luck Patrick.
AMA Sports Athlete of the Year Nominees:
Trey Canard, Elk City, Oklahoma, Motocross Zac Chapman, Weatherford, Texas, Road Racing Michael Lafferty, Estell Manor, New Jersey, Enduro David Pearson, Las Vegas, Nevada, Hare & Hound Patrick Smage, Elkhorn, Wisconsin, Observed Trials

Hey everyone in WOTA-land. A couple of NITRO guys Tom Bledsoe and Frank Totton gave EnduroCross a try and I'll bet they'll tell you it was an experience of their lives.
Phil had another quality outing, not as points rewarding as he would've liked, but quality nonetheless. Phil currently sits in 7th place series points-wise and won't have to qualify in Las Vegas.
Even though they changed the track design to suit the moto-bikes, Phil was still top 10 in the hot lap times. It was a huge open space track, long straight-aways and less major rock-pile obstacles. Lap times were up 30 seconds from the week before. Track designer said he was told to make the track moto-friendly in OLK, that's what he did.
Two of his three night races were totally exciting and down to the wire - as his heat race #1 he battled a #1 Dave Pearson for 6 grueling laps, taking a third, missing the 2nd transfer spot.
Geoff Aaron this time got the best of Phil in the LCQ - as last week it was Phil ahead of Aaron.
I'm hoping I can convince Noel and Pat to 'give it a go' in Vegas, as the track size will again go small and favor the trials bikes. Wouldn't a trio of Smage's in Saturday's main event be something? Nothing like a family from Elkhorn Wisconsin pissing off the entire KTM and Suzuki EnduroCross racing organization enough to pull their riders and sponsorship from the event if the trials riders keep winning races.
So, who's going to Vegas November 17th and root Phil on?
