Thanks so much for funding this site for all these years Bentley.

What does the WOTA membership think about doing away with this site altogether, including both these forums and the "Home" page that includes the schedule and map?   You can replace them with a choice of several free options, with the easiest in my opinion being Facebook.  You can redirect the wisconsintrials.org domain name to the Facebook page or whatever you choose.  The domain name is owned by Bentley and is paid through May 1, 2018, so you have a couple of years to get people used to going to the Facebook presence when looking for info on WOTA events.

Another free option that I'm familiar with is a Google site.  That requires a little more web knowledge to set up but somebody currently active in the club probably has that.  Bentley and/or I would be happy to discuss options with anybody who has questions.  PM me here for my phone number.

I think Skip is saying that if my Motojackrack can make it to the banquet, then he'll gladly take it.  But I'm not going to the banquet and I don't know when or where it's at, and I'm not doing the legwork to figure that all out and make it happen.  Someone come to my house and get this thing, and it's yours.  Tell me where and when I can deliver it within 30 miles of my house (Elkhorn?) and I'll even take it there.

I'd like to have a trials rider get use of this.  But if no one is going to make it easy for me then I've got other options.

No, I'm not going to the banquet.  I'm in Muskego.  Where are you?  Maybe I could give it to someone who is going to the banquet?

Anybody interested in a Moto Jack Rack?  This one is free to a good home.  Uses a 2-inch hitch receiver.  I used it for both trials bikes and dirt bikes.

Kevin, I got the map updated to add Wauzekee back in and to show Dickeyville as two days at (what used to be just) the Saturday location.

I also updated the "posted dates" on some of the Home Page posts to make them more current.

Looking at the pictures on Facebook, I think I was able to find the Door County location.

3692 County Road CC, Sturgeon Bay, WI

Correct?

I'm working on updating the map on the home page.  A couple of questions....

June 6-7, Door County Trial - Great to see a new location!  But what's the exact location?  Little Sturgeon Bay is nothing but a body of water.  Since I don't think even Pat is the Second Coming, maybe this is being held close to the town of Little Sturgeon, WI?  I'd contact the trials master(s) directly, but there is no phone number or email listed for Ryan or Adam Gustafson.   An exact street address or a link to an online map showing right where the nearest mappable address is located would be most helpful.

June 27-28 - anyone have an address for the Thielman MN location that can be used with a GPS?

August 15-16 - Dickeyville.  Is it going to be both days at one location now?  The address you give is the usual Saturday location.  Is Sunday going to be there also, or will it still be on Bell Lane?  And if Bell Lane, does anyone have a GPS address for the Bell Ln location?

And finally, check over my other locations and let me know if they are all correct.

9  General Category / Anything goes forum / Trials Riders Map Project on: May 16, 2013, 02:48:13 PM
WOTA Officers and Members, I got the following via email today.  Post your thoughts here, or email him directly, using his email address in his signature line.  I'll set him up with a forum ID here so he can reply to you right here in the forum if you post any questions or concerns.

----------------

Dear trials clubs officers and members,

My name is Todd Wever and am a NITRO trials club member from St. Louis, Missouri. I am writing to
request participation of your trials clubs and members in a little project I have dreamed up involving
mapping where trials riders live, various clubs' events, and just plain old awesome places we know of to
ride, with possible contact information of land owners or riding areas.

I made a simple sample map this morning using the Trials Incorporated club as an example. I used event
information I found at http://www.trialsinc.org/cfm/schedule.cfm (which I just noticed looks like it is the 2006
schedule...) and member information found at http://www.trialsinc.org/?trigger=member&list . I copied the
data into Excel, and was able to use a technique called geocoding to convert city and state names into
points on the map. To protect people's personal information, I configured the pop-ups to only show the
person's first name, city, and state (even though I wasn't using full addresses to begin with, I did choose to
NOT show last names). I did the same for the event information, and chose to show the round number, the
promoting group's name, contact person, and their phone number.

I work for Esri, a GIS software company, and I made a webmap, which I then converted into a web app.
You should be able to see this map on your computer, smart phone, or tablet device.

You can view the app here . You may have to pan towards the north and west, since it opens up off
center. Be sure to click on event and member points, as well as the images in the pop-ups, which I have
linked to the TI website and schedule.

I've sent this to people associated with NITRO , WOTA , ITSA , MATT , TI , and UMTA . To be honest, I
didn't know there were all these trials clubs in the midwest until I started doing the NITRO series this spring
and dug around online this morning. My short term goal is to map out members of all our clubs (or trials
riders not in a club that we know) to see where everyone is from, and map the location of the year's events.
I'd like to just include name, city, state, and phone number (with permission) so people can sort of
network, and easily find people to ride with if you're traveling or just want to find someone close.

Obviously, we can show as much or as little information as we want. We can show riders' ages, riding
class, bike brand, eye color... ect. You get the point. If there's info in an Excel spreadsheet, we can
choose to hide or show it visually on the map. Further down the road, I'd like to map trials in the whole
country, and/or event results when you click on an event location that has already happened.
Does this sound like something anyone would be interested in participating in? I'm also looking for
feedback on my map, and welcome any questions!

Please feel free to forward to anyone else involved with a different trials club, or anyone else that would be
interested in seeing this!
Thank you for your time,
-Todd <todd.m.wever@gmail.com>

Dave, I rode there a few times several years ago when I was Hare Scramble racing and it's a pretty big piece of land.  Not perfect for trials riding, unless they've set up some sections or areas just for trials since I was there, but you'll definitely have fun playing around there.

Have fun!

I got half-way through that video and got so frustrated with what they were showing that I gave up.  The differences between the red-x and green-check runs were so minuscule that I could almost never tell the difference between them.

It was bad enough with the "stop" rules when a section worker said a rider got a point for a touch when video replay showed it was nothing more than a graze across or against a rock (feet on the pegs, bottom of foot grazes a rock, one person says it was a point, when most people would not count it).  But now you're going to have these kinds of disagreements happening in almost every section.  Crazy.

I'm posting this as the Admin of this site...

Before this escalates any further, lets everyone please tone it down a little bit.  Discussion is good, and the schedule and which events get cross-border points needs to get worked out, but lets keep it civil please.

I found out that you earn one of these beautiful pieces of art when you put on arguably the best trials event in Wisconsin for 25 years running.  Something this nice should definitely be earned, not bought.

Thanks for all you've done over the years Doll family!

Dan Salton

What is this (trophy? award? door prize?) and who is the artist?  I want one!

I see that Luke Littlefield is now winning at the Advanced class level.  How old is he?
