1  General Category / Anything goes forum / Re: Time to END or suspend (CHAMP) class on: April 30, 2012, 02:57:22 PM
I would just like to contribute something to the discussion. As a baby champ with the 2010 WOTA title, I really enjoyed the experience of riding with Rick, Pat Doll, Brad and Noel.
I did plan to sign up for the Champ section in Mauston despite being a little bit scared of pushing the limits. However I believe it is always a good thing to test your limits - thats how we progress.
There were 6 potential champ riders for Mauston (Pat, Phil, Brad, Ben, Noel and me) and I would have loved to have had the opportunity to ride and learn from them.
I believe if everyone plays the game of sharing their skills during such an event, then that is the way riders will make progress and improve their skills.
The only opportunity we have to ride with the pro guys is in this champ class but they do not sign up. I understand that it might be boring for them but it is a great platform to share, discuss, create a spirit of excellence and give example to others in the role of mentors and accessible riders. It is also the way we can attract younger people to join our sport and to enjoy the spirit.
My recommendation is to keep the champ class and to make it work for the future of the sport!
Best

Hello everybody,

We are just back from California and Colorado and the 2010 national is now finished.
I really want to share with you how awesome it was! Especially for me after a 26 years break!
I am realizing a kid’s dream feeling like a champion riding all over the world! And I am so happy to finish third in my class, it was unexpected!

I took some pictures from Colorado and California I want to share with you, these two places are wonderful and the 2 events were well organized, people were friendly and everything was smooth. Rocks everywhere, lot of grip, nice section and when we have got opportunities to watch the Pros category, it was incredible ... it seems that it is another sport ... they are flying from one rock to another!

Thanks a lot for those who helped me to be back on a bike, a special thought for Ralph and Sven, they both help me to recover my skills and they are part of my success this year!
And also a special thanks for Noel who took care of my bike for Calirfornia.

Baraboo was a blast!
2 days in this creek with so many to do, to ride and sometime to crash! ... 2 ribs for me on saturday!
I really liked it and the set up was awesome. Thanks to you Jim, it was impressive and was a good prepration for the national for Noel Smage and myself in the Champ class!
