3  General Category / Event Discussion / Smagical Rock =====( historically super mellow event )setup help needed on: August 30, 2023, 08:37:50 PM
Last  big mega wild  WOTA  event of the year is  being conceived.  I did  7  boundaries  and about half of the inner gates  ,for  a good start to Smag rock setup.  I have  a family wedding to be at in Madison the afternoon of Sep 9   SOOOO,  i will want to start early sat morn if anyone can come  out.   Of course you could stay and continue working ,I will be done by 2pm...  I would rather  add some hours Friday  instead of Sunday...  BUT  if  more people  are  available Sunday  I could  go back north  again instead of heading home Sunday afterf  a madison motel night..

also slightly unrelated  yet  slightly relavant   in the expert class  sunday  the score posted by EXH rider J J from PA  is not  terribly accurate he rode  a bit of  a mix  ===blue here  orange there  .  he rode great but  not as well as score may reflect

Hey hey  cheers ya  all   what A GREAT WEEKEND TO BE RAD 4 RAD GMA!     so glad the skeeters didn't  carry us away  . it was  a touch dry  but  quite rideable  from m,y point of view  /  I thought we really  tamed things down  making  shorter  and less busy sections  ,yet scores  were  still well above my intended target .  Most important  I want to apologize for section 5 on Saturday.  Mark Mizek and I decided to reroute the green line so they didn't have  a  severe  exposure over  a deep washout.  What ended up being marked was  for sure confusing as  the  red line  went up a  hill that the green was supposed to come down ;but  some riders didn't see the plates marking it  and suffered 15 extra points on the day.  I will try not to mark sections like that in t5he future     so sorry

10  General Category / Event Discussion / Re: Setting Up Mauston on: March 19, 2020, 07:02:15 AM
Set up  is on hold   as  now  gatherings in wi of more than 10 people  can result in 500 $ fine  and/or  30 days jail time   SSSOOOO   we will have to wait and see if that  lasts  2 weeks-  3,  a month??   Originally lots of  schools  ,  public  Zoos  and such  thought  April 6th   that  they may reopen  but that has changed  to  unknown?
11  General Category / Event Discussion / Setting Up Mauston on: March 11, 2020, 08:36:45 AM
Was up at rock over the weekend-  built one section  -nice warm day  also had  a bit of thrills lighting  a  scrapwood pile  on fire -  used  a bit much drain oil and diesel  luckilly it calmed down  and I spent 2 hours feeding  all kinds of  fallen tree parts into it  .    With Easter the weekend b 4  event  I may have to  get up there  the  April 4 weekend  .  get a hold of me  if anyone  has time  t get out there       Maybe  looking  at  April 10  and 11  also   ..  if  weather  ends up slowing progress  a lot of work may just get  done  the  couple  days  b 4  the  event    cheers

thanks to all who  came  and to the weather for taking  a break from being awful( although my farm  got 6 or 8 inches of hammering flooding rain)  at least my big fall event wasn't ruined.   I  need to apologize to the  Advanced class  entrants  - on Sunday section 5  turned out to be marked  not quite correctly  so it forced  a bad approach to a big rock in a turn  ,I heard  a few bikes  ate the riders ,etc.   it was  supposed to be  more of  a straight on approach . I think it was  one of the first ones  I laid out  maybe a month ago , and then  neglected to  re survey .   Sorry  for that .   I think that one maybe should have been not counted rather than the section 6  I understand  a rock wall downhill was  a bit out of some riders comfort zone  and I wish  I would have been closer to be  able to  reroute  and  still use the section as the beginning and  end  were  as good as  a section can be  , again Sorry for that    Cheers all
