Condolences to the Doll Family.  Noel said it well.  She will be missed, but the memories will live on.

Yes, many thanks to the Mente Family for hosting.  Great job on the sections.  Yes, they were difficult, but they were very well marked/layed out.  All the lines were so clean, there was hardly a spot with any leaves or debris to be found.

The club owns 66 acres with a variety of terrain.  It is actually pretty descent for trials.  You have to join the club to ride there, there are no "day passes".

FYI - I will be checking out a new place to ride next Thursday evening, 5/16/13. It is a quarry and woods near Elkhart Lake.  I've heard that some of the guys in the club (Manatowoc Off Highway Vehicle Club) ride trials bikes there.  Has anyone else reading this been there?

Dave

Hey Dave, I actually just joined the club this spring.  I will be there on Thursday, so I will see you then.

Dave, do you know how late you will ride?  I am going down to Ray's Mtb Park in Milwaukee, but I am thinking I could swing by on the way back...

I miss riding at Elkhorn.  I will put in a vote for Oct. 20th at Noel's house.  Maybe if there is not enough interest you could just host a fun ride and forego the work of setting up the Gate Trial?

If the double points are still up in the air for 2012, I think a vote would be the most fair way to decide it.

I think Steve has a very valid point here:
"Secondly, considering the objective to get more people to these events, maybe we need to evaluate the reasons for less than desirable attendance and adjust accordingly.  If there is an underlying reason for poor attendance at a particular event, double points won't correct that."

And yes, hope you all enjoy the Holidays!

Silvermound was the first trials event that I ever rode (vintage event in 2000?? maybe).  Great place!

Maybe I'm missing something here...  But, wouldn't decreasing the number of events also decrease the workload of those setting up the events?   Huh

Dave makes a good point.  13 events is kind of a lot...

15  General Category / Event Discussion / Re: Did I see double points for BRF on: April 15, 2011, 10:00:49 AM
Well sorry for all the confusion here, just so you All know the meeting minutes for last fall are posted here in this forum. As for the double points discussion, I do remember talking about not using it for wauzeka this year other than that not to sure what took place, if we talked about not using them at all, I do not recall sorry. BUT! I STAND BY MY DECISION TO USE DOUBLE POINTS AT BRF. There is No Smoke and Mirror show here people! Shocked (I just want everyone to show up and have fun!)  No other objective than that. This is still a 2 day event, (not a 4day) I just added double points to get everyone to show up for the last ride of the year. These guys are working hard to find more new stuff for us all to ride and I think we should all show up and have fun with them!
I know that Noel is planning a big bash at his place in Mauston for our usual year party and ride we have always had at this time of the year and That is great and I am all for it and do not want to take anything away from that so lets keep it as it is and just have fun riding one last time with good friends in BRF too! If you want the extra points you just have to show up! SIMPLE! I Think this is all you need to say about that, END of story!

Reread this thread that was started last September.

 Re: DOUBLE POINTS /?HuhHuh?

I was wondering about the double points thing myself? I was asked by someone about it and I was not sure being so new to this pres.. stuff. I thought that someone told me that we gave double points out for the Wauzeka Event to start off the year and to get more riders there too. I am not sure about if that is true or not but wanted to find out more on that. anyone know more than me about that ? AS for double points,,,, I am not sure why it would be needed unless you were trying to get people to a place that is not having a good turn out or a new place to get more people to come and check it out. My personal view is it is not really needed ! people do what they want even if you try to bribe them. LOL!
