Title: Pat nailed down BIG 4th win Post by: northernnorm on June 19, 2017, 10:27:09 AM A nice group of family support followed Pat out to the OHIO national trials. The first day was a heartbreaker ,after Both the Spanish Honda backed import and Pat were tied at zero after 2 loops, this trial decided to have a 4 section pro shootout which can be pretty cool giving everyone a chance to see how good these top riders really are. Start order was reverse of how you were placing after 2loops of 12 -with the tie there was a coin toss and Frexia won electing to ride last. Section 1 was a problem for a few riders on last straight stepped steep wall with no run so some came back down each time requiring marking to be reset . There were wickets drilled in very shallow with single hole and no obvious gluing anyway according to Cycle News report it was the blast of sand and not the tires or rider that dislodged the wicket when pat rode , so big 5 was entered on pats card right there, one of the not so cool things about trials--the subjectivity of rules/ observation/ inconsistencies in set up quality/ etc. Anyway he ended up scored 1 point behind for a second place day. Then day 2 he again took a huge 5 when snapping some tape early on 1st loop but only scored a few more single dabs to end tied with 8 at the end and winning on cleans ---So now he has a decent 14 point lead in the series. ( many cases could be made that with any kind of benefit of the doubt-type breaks or some missed points on some argued scores in fla. in Marc s favor it should be over 20 points now. anyway he sits pretty strong at regaining the North American Trials Crown.. cheers
