Title: Ouch.. the story of Road America, AMA Superbike weekend 2007 Trials demo Post by: BWolfe on June 05, 2007, 02:09:47 PM Well another fine weekend of demonstrating trials in front of the rabid superbike fans at Road America.
Only this time I came home on crutches. And it rained a LOT. So no practice for me for awhile while I work on this left knee. Teaches me not to splatter without a solid landing spot. Dumb idea! Got a dr. appt today to see what I did to it. Whatever it was it felt pretty bad! I'd like to thank Speedy Pete Laubmeier and Mitch Mansker for their co-promotion efforts. Can't do it without them. Pete especially makes us look professional at all times. The Moose USA support is invaluable. Thanks to the entire Smage Family for coming out and doing their think despite adverse conditions. Thanks to Travis Kirkpatrick for doing his first RA demo, really appreciated. Brian Mullane of the widualsportriders for handling misc, taking lots of photos and letting me borrow his supermoto bike to run into plymouth (don't borrow one of those.. after you do you must buy one). Heath Drone, crowbait, Dirty Dan and all the peeps we know who came out and had a beer with us. And finally, as always, special thanks to George Bruggenthies and Road America for having us back every year. Really appreciated. Sorry to hear the you have joined the ranks of the walking wounded. I hope you heal up soon. It is pretty amazing what these doctors and physical therapists can do these days. But it does take time. And effort. Dave Title: Re: Ouch.. the story of Road America, AMA Superbike weekend 2007 Trials demo Post by: Hare Trigger on June 05, 2007, 06:38:40 PM Hope it heals quickly Bent! :(

Yes, the Motard bikes are quite addicting. I've been teaching dirt bike schools too often and I'm hearing the Sirens calling me back to the 'Motard track. I now have that additional 04 KTM 450 I can use for it while I leave my 02 520 EXC for the dirt. Never too many bikes says I. Now I need to get the Husaberg back together as well (electrical gremlins). Keep in touch and lets keep the OHVCOW on track (still don't like that Acronym). I'll be going to the June 29 & 30 WOHVA Convention, will you be up there? John has suggested I run for a board position in order to get a motorcyclist involved. The MRI shows that I tored the MCL mostly off the bone (ouch) and did something to the ACL. So the doc wanted surgery later this summer, and I'm supposed to be getting a brace and Physical Therapy, but with being laid off as of Friday I've been holding off to try to figure out how much will be covered under COBRA. Nothing worse than running up a couple of grand in medical bills while you're not working...
I will not be at the WOHVA meeting. Family stuff that weekend. I do intend to keep up my participation in the new organization, but the layoff and the injury knocked me offline for a bit. I'll be back on track soon. And yes, that acronym is horrid. Must change. Trying to schedule a complete ACL reconstruction, which is 6 month healing process. Having some trouble with the insurance company, but still hope to get it done in August (just after I go back to work for Adobe). So it'll be awhile on crutches and then a long process of PT. Which gives me incentive to get my bicycles back in shape. Thinking hard about selling the Sherco for the time being. It's an '04 so it's just going to depreciate sitting in the garage. now that Salton upgraded to a new bike I'm going to have to do the same. :) bbbent Title: Re: Ouch.. the story of Road America, AMA Superbike weekend 2007 Trials demo Post by: Hare Trigger on July 19, 2007, 11:37:12 AM Yeah, like upgrading my ride did me any good at Polo or Wauzeka. ::)
Sorry to hear that the surgery hasn't happened yet. Get it straightened out and come on back out next year. I need someone to ride with at the back of the Advance class. :P |
