Title: Setting up Mauston? Post by: northernnorm on March 12, 2013, 07:15:06 AM With winter hanging on and Easter weekend 2 weeks b4 trial not much work will be done in March; that leaves 1 weekend in April ,and lately a pile of people have committed to TTC training days. Kind of wondering if there will be anybody who can come out the 5 th 6 th or 7th? There will be no weed s to cut just a few down branches and slam up the tape. I suppose for the 1st event of the season we are supposed to make them short ez and non challenging. not an ez thing to do .Are there any Experts left in the club it seemed like that class was fading as fast as Champ has . I predict Luke Littlefield will sweep most events .

Dave Johnson Title: Re: Setting up Mauston? Post by: club95 on March 12, 2013, 10:25:05 PM I work EMS the 6th & 7th and have the following weekend off to ride that Mole Hill ::) Will try to get there on Friday the 5th. All depends on weather/work.
Title: Re: Setting up Mauston? Post by: dschigoda on March 13, 2013, 07:43:05 AM Noel,
I will likely be there Friday and Saturday (5th & 6th). Dave Title: Re: Setting up Mauston? Post by: northernnorm on March 13, 2013, 07:45:20 AM Good; some responses, I will post a early that week with the for sure days I will be there .Looks like Fri and Sat 4 sure Have a 34 yr wed ann. the 7th so will be headed home Sun aft at latest. I had Rohrschnieder come up and do a 100 mile snowmo ride and he is pumped with his new bike and will be probably coming up that weekend also. There is plenty of space in cabin to stay for those who want to stay. Hopefully we will know if the school is out and a 3 to 4 section gate trial will be run. I would guess the weather will have a lot to do with how many come to camp.
Title: Re: Setting up Mauston? Post by: club95 on March 29, 2013, 06:32:06 AM Rode my Beta yesterday afternoon. Finally some bare spots after two 40+ degree days albeit still a foot of snow in some wooded areas, especially N slopes. Now got the itch to ride Noel's Mole Hill :o
Title: Re: Setting up Mauston? Post by: northernnorm on March 30, 2013, 06:43:11 AM That's Nole Hill dangit so do you think you will be down Friday ?, I assume starting no earlier than 9 am will be good . I will have all supplies and hope the Daves =Schigoda,Johnson, Rohrschnieder= can make it out. I have 1 sharp chainsaw on site mostly people can bring back packs with hammer to pound stakes.
Title: Re: Setting up Mauston? Post by: dschigoda on April 09, 2013, 08:03:51 AM Has anyone heard how Jeremy and his injured hand is doing? [He took a nasty tumble on some rocks while testing a section at Mauston on Friday]
Title: Re: Setting up Mauston? Post by: Hackman3 on April 09, 2013, 08:44:15 AM Nothing broken......just swollen.
Title: Re: Setting up Mauston? Post by: khub on April 09, 2013, 11:21:27 AM Sounds like the guys have Mauston nearly completed. Been watching the weather forcast and looks like an inch of rain today, another inch Wednesday, and then rain and snow again on Thursday with a slight chance for some on Friday! Will keep an eye on the weather but for now I am thinking of driving up Friday afternoon, hope I can get into and out of the pits with my camper. With all the rain, if you used a lot of the cardboard arrows they may need replaced. I have a bunch of the plastic arrows I'll bring.
Title: Re: Setting up Mauston? Post by: northernnorm on April 09, 2013, 02:52:47 PM Seems like it s time to build an ark haven't seen rain like this 4 a while I think a bit less is predicted 4 further north. We had 7 complete as of Sun aft and 6 raked to perfection. Sat and Sun forecast is mostly cloudy but maybe closer to 50 . Could still be a good weekend.
Title: Re: Setting up Mauston? Post by: JVoigtlander on April 09, 2013, 04:23:45 PM hey Kevin stay to woods side of the field it is higher and dryer! the corn field side is muddy~~~!!!
Title: Re: Setting up Mauston? Post by: northernnorm on April 11, 2013, 06:28:11 AM Heading up today to Smag rock will take tablet and report riding conditions Friday and Sat AM ,Sat sunny but only 40 then 60% chance of showers Sunday ,cant really postpone it will see how it goes. remember the sand is much better than clay for drainage and most of it runs off the area we ride . Hope to still get a fair turnout.
Title: Re: Setting up Mauston? Post by: JVoigtlander on April 11, 2013, 05:03:35 PM the wet sand should give great traction!!! bring a rain coat and have fun!!!!!!!
Title: Re: Setting up Mauston? Post by: northernnorm on April 12, 2013, 07:53:26 AM Well now we have an inch of snow like to be warm enough Sunday to melt down last year I planted corn the 10th remember this event pays triple points nog really
Title: Re: Setting up Mauston? Post by: club95 on April 12, 2013, 08:22:50 AM ??? I am becoming a doubtful, not because of riding conditions, but because of problems spring thaw/high water is creating with our city wastewater system. Spent most of Wednesday nite baby sitting a lift station and 11 hours with pump repair crews yesterday. Just received a call this morning that we have another pump out. This damn system >:( is almost as old as I am. I still hope to make it, but....jsut sayin :-\
Title: Re: Setting up Mauston? Post by: khub on April 12, 2013, 08:30:28 AM Checked forcast for Mauston. 60% rain/snow today, 30% rain/snow tonight, Flurries Saturday, 30% freezing rain Saturday night, 80% Wintery Mix Sunday. Not afraid to ride my bike in the mud but I am very worried about parking. Would be to dangerous to have people park in the road and the pits may have people getting stuck. At what point do we cancel?
Title: Re: Setting up Mauston? Post by: khub on April 12, 2013, 11:14:49 AM Heading for Mauston, should be there between 3 and 4pm today.
Title: Re: Setting up Mauston? Post by: khub on April 12, 2013, 06:03:18 PM Have the pickup camper set up in the pits on the woods side. Pretty firm ground here, but looks softer towards the corn field. Will keep you posted on how things are tomorrow.
Title: Re: Setting up Mauston? Post by: khub on April 13, 2013, 06:58:57 PM 8 Sections done with time to play some. Plenty of grip in the damp sand. Weather forcast for Sunday looks better than before, scattered sprinkles. Should be able to have a good day of riding.
Title: Re: Setting up Mauston? Post by: 2whlrcr on April 13, 2013, 06:59:35 PM I am at home, where it's warm and dry.
Title: Re: Setting up Mauston? Post by: dschigoda on April 14, 2013, 06:56:22 AM Thanks for the conditions report Kevin. I'm on my way!
Title: Re: Setting up Mauston? Post by: club95 on April 14, 2013, 10:36:27 AM Don't know what it is like in Mauston (approx 70 miles S by SE), but it is snowing here & 32 degrees. Wet, heavy & slippery. Salt crews out. Not to be an alarmist....Ambulance just paged on 3rd motor vehicle accident in 2.5 hours - 2 on I-94 & one on Hwy 54. Prudence???
