Title: 2009 District 16 Points - Through Polo2 event (6/28/09)
Post by: dschigoda on August 25, 2009, 04:40:08 PM
I have tallied up the District 16 points for the 2009 season, through the Polo 2 day event held on 6/27-28/09.

If someone (Theresa?) could please send me the placings for the Mt. Road and Dickeyville events, I would add them to the points sheet.

Also - Trialsmasters - please let me know who worked at your events, so I can award work points.

The Expert Class is a close race between Pat Doll and Bryan Moenssen.  The Advanced Class has Homer Weber, Dan Cotter, and Andrew Findlay very close.  The Intermediate class has the top three in a tight contest between John Archer, James Voigtlander, and Kevin Huber.

I will forward the point sheet to Dan S. for presentation on the WOTA Home Page (I can't get it to print here).

Thanks for posting.  Two questions.  Will Hixton be a District 16 points event and does District 16 count every event or do they throw out a specific number of low scores like District 17 and shown in AMA guidlines?

Good catch! Yes, Hixton is a D16 points event this year.  I will correct the omission and add it to the points sheet.

As I recall (officers - please correct me if I'm not remembering correctly on what we agreed on last Spring) we will count all D16 event points for 2009, same as last year.  The thinking here was to encourage participation in riding the events throughout the season.

I am curious - what is shown in the AMA guidelines for throwing out a number of low scores?

Hi Ralph,

Thanks for riding D16 again this year.

Each month I receive from Erin Aune (D16 Treasurer) a list of D16 member names.  The list shows when each person paid their dues.  Your name was not on the list I received via email dated 5/28/09.  But your name appeared on the list I received via email on 6/23/09, and it showed that you paid on 6/1/09. This is all the evidence that I have to go by.

If you feel you paid your dues on or before the Wauzeka event, I suggest that you email Erin Aune [ aune@tds.net ] and let her know. Show her a copy of your cancelled check, or some other evidence of payment date.

Please let me know how this works out for you.  One possibility is that your name was mispelled on the list for the month of May, and then it was corrected for the June member list?  There are 2088 names on the member list.  If I can't find it, then points aren't able to be awarded.  Though I have to say that I have not come across any name mispellings from Erin since I started doing this a few years ago.

Dave

Ralph,

Good question.  Several dozen riders really appreciate your efforts in working the Polo event.

Sorry, worker points are only awarded for working events within the boundaries of AMA District 16.  This is because the intent of the worker points is to promote participation in setting up events within District 16.  (It's that more land / fewer people thing here).

Dave

If the leaders decided to count all events thats fine.  I understand the logic and also hope to encourage everyone to attend every event.  I missed one this year because of work.  I did some more looking and I guess it wasn't the AMA rule book that I saw the number of events counted towards season points.  I found it in the District 17 rule book that states they throw out 20%, and I found in the Upper Midwest Trials rules book it states:
The number of events counted toward the season championship points total shall equal
approximately 70% of the events held for the season as outlined below:
# of events held # of events counted
8                             6
9                             6
10                           7
11                           8
12                           8
13                           9
14                         10
15                         11
16                         11
17                         12
18                         13

Dave is correct. We (WOTA) voted to count all of the events as points paying, plus worker points for laying out and working one event. This is to encourage participation in both attending and laying out events in Dist 16. Remember, trials riders are few and it seems that the same guys end up setting up the events every year, so now the people setting up events could have an advantage with points.
Let's not complain about it, come and help out at one event.

I'll chime in again. You should be awarded points for the event in which you signed up at. WOTA will have documentation on who signed up and where.
No worries Monty4. ;D

Providing your name would help speed up the process.   ;)

We'll get this fixed, don't worry.
