Title: Dickeyville Setup
Post by: Hare Trigger on August 03, 2008, 12:12:52 PM
As Dave said in the Wauzeka results thread, he and I are going to set up the Dickeyville trial next weekend, August 9-10.  We could really use some help getting this event set up and ready for Saturday, August 16.

We especially need help because I just found out I won't be able to be there until late on Saturday the 9th.  (Sorry Dave) If we could get 1 or 2 more bodies there to help on Sunday (or Saturday assuming Dave will still be there then) we should be able to get 8-10 sections cleared and marked by end of the weekend.

Here's an online map of where the event is being held along McAdams Road in Dickeyville.

We stage/camp/cookout at the picnic pavillion, then ride the bikes about a 1/4 mile back towards Dickeyville to where most of the event sections are set up.  I'll be camping at the pavilion Saturday night (gotta check with Dan Cotter to make sure that's OK).  I should be able to get there by 5pm Saturday and get a couple hours of work done before sundown.

Please give me a call if you can help out and want to talk logistics.

Sorry but I can't help next weekend.  I'm racing a VMX race on Saturday and plan on riding the Lena trials on Sunday.  I was over helping setup at Lena a little bit today.

Is Homer and Dan helping set this up again?  I could maybe go over and work a couple of nights mid week next week.  But it doesn't do anygood, unless someone else with the supplies is there.  Plus if the cows are still in there, they seem to tear down everthing we setup and it makes it difficult to try and set things up too early.

Man, do you ever take a weekend off?   ;D

My understanding is that Homer and Dan are going to be setting up Platteville next weekend while Dave and I work on Dickeyville.  Not sure if we'll keep the cows out between setup and event time, so I"m sure will have a bit of fixing to do the Saturday morning of the event.

Actually, I've taken about every weekend off again this year.  I've done very little riding since April and this weekend is just one I've been wanting to do.

If you end up going over mid week, give me a call and I'll try to come over and help.

Thanks to the hard work of John Archer, Dan Cotter, Dan Salton, and myself, the Saturday Dickeyville Trials is essentially set up and ready to go.   ;D

I will be out there late Friday afternoon to do some chainsaw trimming, and to correct what ever might have fallen down durning the week.

When you ride there next Saturday, please ride very carefully as THERE ARE SOME NEW FENCES ON THE SITE WHERE THERE WHERE NONE BEFORE!!!  Keep your speed down and your eyes open for fences in the woods, across some of the trails.

The fences do not interfere with any of the sections that we have laid out for Saturday.

Dan Cotter, Homer Weber, and Rick Condon spent a good deal of time putting sections into the new "Dickeyville 2" site for this Sunday.  Homer tells me some of the sections at this brand new site look very challenging!

It should be a great weekend for two days of Trials riding.

Perhaps for me, one of the most enjoyable weekends in trials,
and it hurts to say that I will not be in attendance.
This crazy truck driving profession I have chosen to do this year will keep me away.
Also will miss the MN nationals, wihich I wanted to help score this year.
I vow to remedy this problem for next season.

Homer and Dan Cotter were each mailed the AMA plates for signup and should have them by now.

I will be following closely here for a report and results.
Great work Dan on the website! It has not gone unnoticed.
